Replying to myself, I've compiled PHP without --enable-discard-path but
the problem remains:

root@furao # /usr/local/bin/phpfcgi -v
   PHP 4.3.10 (cgi-fcgi) (built: Mar  7 2005 23:54:17)
   Copyright (c) 1997-2004 The PHP Group
   Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2004 Zend Technologies
