I am running fastcgi on an AIX box with IBM's HTTPServer. Everything looks like it's working fine but now my boss wants me to produce metrics... He wants to know how much faster the CGI is running and wants to be able to monitor the performance.

Now I know I can look at the access_log to find out when commands have completed but there doesn't seem to be any indication of how to find when the request was first received from the user.

Does anyone know how to calculate the total time the request is being manipulated by the serverand application.
