Hi, Shane! I think there's dynamic configuration via mod_fastcgi - I havn't got how does fastcgi works yet. Apache starts it and then it is kept in memory for some time. By the way - why mod_php works without this lag? Here apache gives file to mod, it has to parse it and then run. Or these 3 sec is internal overheads of fastcgi? Is it possible to minimize them? I think fastcgi server is not so big and complex to be initialized for so long time. Or another way is to make server static and permanently keep parsed scripts in memory? Dynamic servers do not stay alive for ever so if left dormant for a while the dynamic server will be killed.
