Failed to "make install" mod_fastcgi 2.4.6 for httpd 2.2.3 on RHEL5

Dear Fastcgi-Developers,

I hope to get help from you for this problem that washs two weeks away.

After run the "make " command successfully, I type "make install" and press enter. The message is:

[root@LINUXSERVER mod_fastcgi-2.4.6]# make install
make[1]: Entering directory `/00pub/mapserver/13_fastcgi/mod_fastcgi-2.4.6'
make[1]: execvp: /usr/lib/httpd/modules: Permission denied
make[1]: *** [install-modules-yes] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving
 directory `/00pub/mapserver/13_fastcgi/mod_fastcgi-2.4.6'
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1

...but the path "/usr/lib/httpd/modules" is present and has been changed mode to 777, accessing it is ok

I tried so many times, search through the www and read so many posts but no way to solve this.

- httpd version: 2.2.3
- fastcgi version: 2.4.0
- mod_fastcgi version: 2.4.6
- httpd path:

[root@LINUXSERVER ~]# whereis httpd
httpd: /usr/sbin/httpd /usr/sbin/httpd.event /usr/sbin/httpd.worker /etc/httpd /usr/lib/httpd /usr/include/httpd
 /usr/share/man/man8/httpd.8.gz
[root@LINUXSERVER ~]#
