That's because it waits for a HTTP request on standard input.
If you've followed the fnord HOWTO, your fnord has already been started
by your daemontools.

Otherwise you could e. g. create an entry in /etc/inetd.conf for it, or sta=
rt
/etc/fnord/run through some other means, like a startup script in /etc/rc*.=
d.
