I have pushed out a rough initial implementation of freemarker-introspection. It's really more of a proof of concept, but I thought it might be useful to solicit feedback. https://github.com/cwong15/freemarker-introspection The current implementation uses an introspection approach to access Freemarker properties. We both know this is not the right approach going forward, and I consider this temporary code. Eventually, I intend to use the package-local access wherever feasible.
