So, it's like BSD license with advertising clause. That said, you can
use it in GPL projects. You don't have to distribute the source code
of FreeMarker (but you can). You can just include freemarker.jar in
your distribution, and mention in the relevant text that this project
uses FreeMarker. (Of course, if you you distribute the source code as
well, you can't obligate others to keep modifications in that
*FreeMarker* source code open -- you can't GPL-ise our license.)

BTW, thanks for the question... because I have just realized we don't
link the license from the welcome page! Also, Jonathan... the
visigoths.org link in the license doesn't give any content. Earlier
there were content. Whatever happened with it, I don't know, but could
you put something sensible there? What is this society, legal info,
some graphics to give it a face...
