BeansWrapper and w3c XML Element?

I have an object that has one of its getters that return an Xml
Element (w3c). When I put the object in the datamodel and access the
XML property in a template, the Xml Element does not get wrapped as a
freemarker.ext.dom.NodeModel, preventing me to use all the cool
freemarker XML support.

Am I missing something?

I am using conf.setObjectWrapper(BeansWrapper.BEANS_WRAPPER);

Any help greatly appreciated.
