	I don't know if i cant answer your questions, but i'll give a try:

	Grails tag libs are just Groovy classes where each tag is a closure. A
closure is something like a function that can be referenced (like C/C++
function pointers or JavaScript functions). The tag library can also
have a static property with its namespace (i'm not sure what happens
when there is no namespace).

	The plugin creates adapters to expose these tags as directives (using
TemplateDirectiveModel) and functions (using TemplateMethodModelEx) to
the freemarker engine. The new directives and functions are
auto-imported in all .ftl used by Grails.
