Hrm, I don't think it is sufficiently proven - what are the use cases and
reasons for displaying it or not displaying it? I would personally lean
towards the notion that displaying it provides far more help (affordance)
than hindrance, so may as well be the chosen behaviour.
What are the reasons for not showing the dropdown?
