If you start adding prefs in the UI because you don't like the default behaviour of something (while you agree at the same time that using this default might be sensible), I don't know what galeon2 will look like in the end, but I really don't want to see that... This autodropdown behaviour can already be tweaked in gconf to fit your need, and this is a one time setting, so I don't really see why you absolutely want this pref... I read the part about the "second class user", but really, hardly nobody will ever use this option, so apart from having a "philipl is a l33t galeon developer who rocks so much that he added this option only for his personal use" check box in the option dialog, I don't see what advantages this will give to galeon.
