Just to throw my hat in here... I like the auto-dropdown, but the reason I didn't say anything before is because I don't particularly care about it.  Whether or not a little window pops up when I enter in a URL doesn't make a big difference to me.  I think having a pref for this is kind of silly, it seems like such a tiny and insignificant part of the browsing experience, and i can't see how it would be harming you in any way.  If you start going down that road, galeon will eventually be riddled with loads of such little "feature" preferences.

I'm more concerned about the big picture, and in that I think galeon is taking the right direction.  Marco's vision was, in my opinion, more or less correct, and I think (modulo that tools menu thing) it is enough to work for 95% of all users.  I DO think we should elect a new maintainer, and possibly put our heads together to come up with some creative solutions for the problems we've been having.  Issue #1 seems to be the tools menu, which I am not at all against reintroducing, despite how much I approve of the sentiments of the HIG.
