This is a very strange one, and I'm not sure who could help me best. First let me direct your attention to the mozilla bug: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=185112 Here is the quick and dirty before you read the gory details though. Under gentoo linux, I compile and install mozilla 1.2.1+xft (with gentoo patches), and galeon 1.2.7. I run mozilla, it works fine. I run galeon, it works fine. I then try to run mozilla again and it spins, creates huge numbers of pipes (6000+) and then crashes. Neither it nor galeon will run properly again, and I have to re-install moz 1.0.x or 1.1.x and galeon 1.2.6 again. This is reproducable (I have had this happen several times now), but I have to recompile/install new versions of gal and moz to do it, so it's not something that can be "quickly" reproduced. I know some moz hackers (hi Mr. Blizzard) read this, and I'm hoping that someone will have a clue as to what is going on. Gentoo installs a bunch of nice patches onto mozilla, and it could possibly be one of them that is causing problems, but the problems happen only after galeon is run. As you can see in the bug I've removed .mozilla, .gnome* and a bunch of other things.... Please help!
