"No Proxy For" suggestion

Hi all,

I've been using Galeon since the very early 0.x releases right through
to 1.3.4, however, this morning, I've had to switch on my work machine
to using Epiphany rather than using 1.3.5 because of the vanishing act
that the proxy exclude list has done between 1.3.4 and 1.3.5.

I've been following the discussion on the Galeon lists, and d-d-l over
this for a while, and have a suggestion to make, but first a summary of
what the situation appears to me to be (in case I've misunderstood, so
that someone can put me right).

* Galeon up to 1.3.4 was still using the GConf keys in 
  /apps/galeon/Advanced/Network to specify the proxy settings, including
  the exclude list (no_proxies_for)
* Post-1.3.4, this was changed to use the GConf settings in 
  /system/http_proxy, which does not include an exclude list
* There is a bug open on bugzilla.g.o for the addition of an exclude 
  list to the GNOME settings, which was proposed to be in GNOME 2.4, but
  now appears that it won't make it.
* Epiphany uses the GNOME settings, but also honours the contents of
  /apps/epiphany/network/no_proxies_for

My suggestion is this:
Would it be possible, until the GNOME Proxy settings are sorted out to
take a leaf from Epiphany's book, and honour
/apps/galeon/Advanced/Network/no_proxies_for while otherwise using the
GNOME settings?
