The idea was that when you have selected text, the context menu would
include smart bookmarks that would then operate on the selected text. 
Never got around to do that, though.  (I was kind of expecting ric to
fill in...)

It seems that I failed to remember bookmarklets altogether.  I'm not
sure if putting the bookmarks in ordinary context menus is such a good
idea, but having smart bookmarks in the selected text context menu feels
more right.
