cannot find input file: po/Makefile.in.in

Hi. I'm trying to compile the CVS version of Galeon, but the
configure script fails because it can't find po/Makefile.in.in.

I started by compiling and installing mozilla-source-1.3.1.tar.bz2
into /opt/local/galeon2.  Then I checked out the Galeon sources from
the CVS server (cvs -z3 co galeon).  Then I defined the following
variables to have Galeon find the Mozilla installation and to use
GNU gettext 0.10 instead of 0.11:

export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/opt/local/galeon2/lib/pkgconfig
export ACLOCAL_FLAGS="-I /opt/local/galeon2/share/aclocal"
PATH=/usr/local/gettext-0.10.40/bin:$PATH

After obtaining the sources, I did './autogen.sh --help' and got this:

But autogen.sh claimed to succeed anyway, so I did ./configure and
it predictably failed this way:

My system is RedHat 8.0 with Ximian Desktop 2 (GNOME 2.2).

My version of the gnome-common RPM is:
gnome-common-1.2.4.0.200303102051-0.snap.ximian.2

I notice that gettext and gettextize are found in
/usr/local/gettext-0.10.40/bin but intltoolize is found in /usr/bin:
it was provided by the intltool-0.25-0.ximian.5.3 RPM.

I have these other tools:
