I'm glad to hear that the current release is working out well for you.
We do consider the 1.3.x releases to be de-facto stable these days, even
though they are officially unstable. The reality is that the primary
developers are simply too busy these days to give galeon as much
attention as we'd like to. That's not to say that we've given up on it,
but that progress is slow, and that includes making an official 2.0
release.

We're actually all going to be in Boston for the GNOME summit next week,
which will be a good opportunity to have a discussion about where we go
from here.
