Yes, but they are two ways of making an ui intuitive, finding the right
place for the options so that they are where people will find them,
without scaring away the users not very familiar with computers is one.
Emptying the UI of any content is the second, but i think we can agree
that this is not the right solution here.

Ha, here is another problem, it is not only the HIG, but the
interpretation of it.

And i think what you state here is something not contained in the HIG,
but some knowledge of Seth's intention you have from reading the gnome
mailing lists or something such. I did not see any such thing in the HIG
itself, but then, maybe i did not read it as slowly as i should have.
