Ok, i apologize for my mails yesterday, maybe i was just speaking
angrily, and since i don't write code, maybe it is not my place to speak
such.
Anyway, i decided to be more constructive, and here is a small list of
things that are decidely missing of galeon 2. This is only a smallish
list since i don't really use galeon 2 yet, but anyway, here it goes.
o Cannot import galeon 1 or galeon 2 bookmarks.
=> I already filled a bug against it in bugzilla, as i was asked to do on
the galeon-user mailing list.
o Personal bookmarks bar.
=> This is a great feature, but i suppose they are not supposed to exist
anymore or something such. Maybe there is another way of doing this, but
this is not evident at all.
Anyway, it is possible to have personal bookmarks bar, just by creating a
personal bookmark folder, as happened when i just copied (by hand in a
shell) the galeon1 bookmarks over the galeon2 bookmarks, but there is no
more easy way of adding bookmarks to this bookmark folder.
o I wished to remove the names below the icons of the toolbar, as i know
what they do, and they just take place i need for browsing, but was not
able to figure how to do it. Formerly this option was in the
userinterface->toolbar->appearance, and you could choose between
text+icon, text, icon, and text after icons.
=> This feature is usefull, or at least if you don't want a preference, do
it right (icons only, with a tooltip for additional info). I mean,
everyone should be able to know that a right arrow means back and so on,
this has been a standard feature on most browser since ages.
o The zoom icon is needed, my mother-in-law often use my computer, and she
cannot read the small fonts i use, sure i could use a 640x480 desktop, but
this is no solution, (sure i could buy a 19 inch screen, but this is no
solution for me right now).
=> I think people already complained on this one for usability
issues. Maybe this can be made to work differently without needing
it in the toolbar (with a combination of click + scroll wheel or
something such), i don't really know. But it is a very important
thing, that and tabbed browsing are the two features i most
appreciated in galeon 1.
Ok, i hope this will be more helpfull than my previous mails.
Friendly,
Sven Luther
