It's not an assumption--it's a very clear observation if you know enough people. I think Marco isn't talking about 90% of gnome users but rather 90% of computer users. And not being technical has nothing to do with intelligence--it has to do with not *caring*. People want to view web pages and read content, not screw around with prefs. People don't want bloated software. By "people" I'm refering to most computer users. In addition, there are also a lot of technical users who don't want extraneous settings either--they want software that does something well and doesn't need to be twiddled with. The more complex a UI is, the more settings present, the more time I waste trying to figure out how to use it. I want applications that let me get real work done. I don't want to spend time changing settings or trying to learn the intricacies of a new UI. The simpler the UI the easier to use. Period. The simpler the UI and the application, the easier maintenance becomes for the developers. -jamin > you are one of these guys that blindly > follow the crap of seth nickell and havoc pennington. if galeon wasn't > the only webbrowser for gnome then i would have spoiled it down the > toilet already. alone this sentence of yours is worth doing this. that's > the reason why i work on atlantis because i am fed up of people that > threaten other people like morons. seriously. your users and i speak of > the whole gnome desktop now. are the TECHNICAL users, that are the users > that want to bomb their limited barrier and try something new, that are > the users who spread the word of gnome and galeon in general. these > users have switched to linux and decided to use it because of its > powers, because of its configurability. please understand that on the > long run it is better to stop this insanity and get back to the initial > roots of gnome. making a cool desktop that satisfies the needs of all > people. this sentence of yours is highly offensive and highly pissing > people off. > > thank you for reading. > > -- name: Jamin Philip Gray email: [email protected] icq: 1361499 aim: jamingray47 yahoo: jamin47 web: http://pubcrawler.org and when the dead leaves fall for time will fail us all never fail to remember the One in whom we move and breathe and have our being is the God who's in Control --MoRTAL ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf
