Even if you don't believe me, I agree with this objective. But, as
someone already said in th usability list the HIG: is a Guideline. You
have to use your common sense when reading it and applying it to your
app.

I always agreed with this. For me Galeon exists in order to Gnomeify the
already great Mozilla browser.

Havoc essay makes sense. Except that you have to take it with a grain of
salt. It is just too extremist. Things are not so black and white.

Here is where I disagree.

1st: Not targeting web developers is dumb. Web developers decide what
browsers will be supported and used.

2nd: Disabling JavaScript is geek-oriented??? Everything that is a bit
more complicated than "Click here to start" is geeky for you?

3rd: You clearly don't target me. I think it's dumb to hack in a project
that does not target me as a user. I want a browser that I would enjoy
using. I value usability, consistency and all that very much too.
Otherwise I would be using Mozilla. But I value usefulness a lot.

It seems that your first target is to be part of the official gnome
desktop or something. I would very much like it too, but not at the
price of making dumb decisions.
