I know you're attached, phil, but if you take a step back, you'll see
that there is a reasonable amount of cruft in the galeon 1 UI. That
doesn't necessarily mean that features need to go away, but
reorganization and cleanup (with or without the same core features)
would probably go a long way towards making galeon a lot more usable.

If you feel that the resources are there for this solution, it might not
be completely unfeasible, if done intelligently. Certainly it seems to
be what mozilla is leaning towards by giving phoenix a semi-official
status. That said, also note that everyone is very excited about phoenix
and the simplified and lighter (while still powerful) UI there. :)

Galeon 2 is /very/ relevant. GNOME2 is going to become the standard UNIX
desktop[1], and it _needs_ a standards-compliant gtk2-based browser.
Luckily, we have not only a standards-compliant browser, we have one
with a great track record of innovative solutions to old problems.[2]
So... please don't think galeon is not relevant. GNOME is not going to
be a full, modern, relevant desktop without it.

[1] I strongly believe that it's a matter of a reasonably short time
before we start talking about millions of GNOME desktops, not thousands.
Sadly (to me) this'll happen with or without galeon; it'll just happen
faster and better with galeon. [IMHO.]
