Hi all,

I've just checked support for firefox/thunderbird into cvs, and I felt
it was significant enough to let everyone know.

First off, thunderbird doesn't actually work :-) You can compile and
run galeon but you won't see any web pages, just a blank rectangle.
This appears to be because of some conflict with the mail code. If
you remove libmail.so (and render thunderbird unable to function as
a mail client :-), galeon will work pretty much as expected.

Second, you will probably need to build your own firefox/thunderbitd.
The builds from mozilla.org are static and so have no shareable
components - so we can't use them. I don't know what the distributions
shipping firefox are doing in this regard. Also, for thunderbird, there
will be browser components you'd find useful missing from a default
build.

To compile galeon against one or the other, pass an extra flag to
configure: --with-mozilla=[firefox|thunderbird]

The main problem you'll notice is that typeaheadfind doesn't work with
firefox but Tommi is working on this :-)

At least for me, the most exciting opportunity is using thunderbird so
there's only one set of mozilla libs installed but you get email and
galeon - so I'll be continuing to see what's needed to get this
combination working properly.
