Thanks, Chris and Crispin, (re-)compiling galeon-1.3.18 did it (Gentoo had
marked mozilla-1.7.5 as stable for amd64, but galeon-1.3.18 was only
~amd64). Same thing with Epiphany (although I won't use it, I guess).
  So I don't have to use Firefox any more :-). I _did_ like the `nuke
anything' extension, though, that allows to remove flashing ads from the
window. But Galeon is still my clear favourite.


Interestingly, I still have the same problem (disappearing context menu)
on a SuSE 9.0 box with mozilla 1.4.1-22 and galeon 1.3.14a-2. Maybe the
reason is the same and the SuSE people have screwed up the versions...
