Well, I think that the real issue is how much you can do with a window
closed.  Opera had a full-fledged MDI (multiple document interface) and
the general 'feel' I got from it was that webpages were 'contained' in
Opera, but there was plenty to do when you had closed all your windows:
continue downloading files, open pages from your history, etc.  Not
quite that different from any other browser at this point, but like I
said, it was all about the 'feel'.  So it made more sense for Opera to
have that feature.  No worries though; I use Galeon. ;)
