Actually...  A related behavior I *don't* see is the ability to
*restore* the current URL after clearing the navbar.  Used be hitting
<esc> would do this (FFX has this behavior).  Not in Galeon.  Is there
any way to restore the current page's URL to the navbar quickly?

Middle-mouse paste to the browser render area will open the pasted text
as a URL (or present an error dialog for unparsable strings).

You may have to set your Galeon middle mouse action to do this properly,
IIRC G1.3 defaults to automatic scroll (ugh) a' la MSIE (retch!)

   Edit => Preferences => Mouse => Middle Button
       Past URL in current tab
