Unfortunately, many of the developers (or at least the developers who 
have posted here; I´ll give the others the benefit of the doubt) believe 
that not only can they anticipate the user´s needs, but they know the 
user´s needs better than the user does.

Another user recently posted a complaint regarding loss of functionality 
between Galeon 1.2 and Galeon 1.3.  One of the items that he identified 
was that under Galeon 1.2, you could press ^O and be presented with a 
dialog to enter a URL.  The developer´s response was why would you want 
to be presented with a dialogue when you can press ^L and be taken 
directly to the address bar. 

When the original poster stated that he preferred a dialogue box over 
being taken to the address bar, the developer went on to berate the very 
idea of a dialogue box.  The whole conversation came off as being very 
patronizing.  It is that sort of attitude, rather than any technical 
short comings which have turned me off from GNOME (and I´m sure I´m not 
alone).
