Agreed WRT toolkit issue.  The resolution would appear to be either
fixing the toolkit or using another.  We can't be the only group to find
notebook inappropriate.

Prolly someot like that.  The gconf / file selector thingie (rotating
triangle tree widget) might work.

Well....  If you could highlight multiple tabs, w/o use of a menu, the

A third would be to allow users to select multiple tabs to activate on
the current tab bar.  <ctrl>-<l-click> is the group selector action in
most other widgets, <shift>-<l-click> is the range selector.  Identify
range, then the next close, move, bookmark, etc, action works on the
group.
