AFAIU:  Galeon requires modifying MIME types through GNOME.  The Mozilla
configs won't take.  I may be wrong here.

There's 'prefs.js', which you *shouldn't* edit (the changes are reverted
by Gecko/Galeon) and 'user.js' which you _can_ edit (settings are
preserved).  See above:  Galeon overrides many settings through GNOME
configs.  'about:config' is generally a better route.

Life is hard.

Personally, I like the userContent.css route.  If you know CSS, it's a
standard language, it's portable across browsers (you can use the same
stylesheet on different browsers), and it's not subject to change at the
whim of a given browser developer community.

Galeon does suffer the problem of having inherited at least three
different configuration systems (Mozilla, userContent.css, gconf).  And
probably more.  Documentation lags (making it easier for people to help
here would be a win), which makes the situation even more confusing.
Turns out this list is one of the better information sources.
