Speaking of which, I was really excited to see my Debian unstable box
install cmr10 as a screen font.  Now web pages look just a little more
like TeX :)

But any time a filename has an underscore "_", Galeon, Gnome, KDE, etc
render it as something like an apostrophe without the tail: a little
dot up near the top of the text line (at about the level of an "f"'s
blob).  Is that related to the encoding?  Can it be fixed easily?

(I haven't noticed any problem with any other character, although
accented (extended ASCII) characters don't seem to be present (looks
like they're grabbed from another font)).
