One of the greatest strengths of galeon IMO is the ability to have tabs
down the side.  Try that and you will delight in having more than 12-14
tabs per window.  As I type, I counted 27 tabs open in one window
(limited only by the window size I've set) and if I go more than that I
get a scroll button to see more.  By having them down the side you get a
better UI such that all tabs can be much bigger/longer and perfectly
readable to know which is what.  I am able to set the cut-off length of
text in the tab, in gconf-editor now, I believe.  Also, having them down
the side is less mouse movement to change tabs IMO.
