How can I copy over my customizations

Hi, I just upgraded from Fedora Core 1 to 3.  Although I saved all my
.galeon, .gconf files,  I find that they are no longer recognized by gnome.

In particular, my Galeon customizations are gone.  My many gnome-terminals
profiles (color-code for each machine I work on) are gone.  All the
gnome key bindings are gone (I like F8 to close a window, F12 to maximize,
alt-J to cycle etc.)

The only way I've managed to get any customizations back is by
laboriously re-customizing each application via various preference
menus.  Some of it I can't find at all (for instance, I don't
consciously remember all the key bindings in order to find them in the
menu; I'm accustomed to typing them by rote.  Now they don't work, and
it's hard to reconstruct everything).

Is there a way to persuade gnome to adopt the old gconf files
wholesale?  

Sorry if the question is a bit wider than just galeon, but I imagine
some of you must have encountered, and solved, this problem.
