Have been sick, so just now saw your message. I changed the setting for background_color, restarted X, and it had no effect at all. I rewrote the thread title because there appear to be several strangenesses in galeon's rendering. Most backgrounds and images and some text are affected. I'm unfamiliar with gtk and gecko and the general topic of rendering, so I'm not sure where to begin. I suspect it's a fairly simple matter if one does understand how rendering occurs. I've posted some <a href="http://www.visi.com/~gordon/galeon/index.html"> sample graphics here</a>. You may have to download the screen-captures and view outside a browser to see accurately what I'm seeing.
