Doesn't gconf-editor tell you right under "key documentation"? - Perhaps  
you should check the install-path of your gconf-schemas?

It's the same thing mozilla offers under "Cache"

Iirc WP needs the Referer in WordpressAdmin to clearly identify you!

Perhaps try vsr.myd4c.de - a wordpress 2.0 site in German (or any other  
wp2-site ;) - and see if there are probs like this as well? - Like I said:  
never had these problems. More and more I think of a prob with your server  
sending a "not-changed"-header...

If you would post the url of your site I could try?
