I don't have such an empty field in my password list. I even deleted my
passwords and started from scratch because Galeon somehow screwed the
password file after I had installed different 1.x and 2.x versions. But
the select box still remains empty when it pops up. When I press Return
or click OK on it, the password I was last using is inserted.
