OK, so I tried it. And in gnome-control-center "File Management" it
was already configured like that for me. So apparently it's not this
configuration option.

anyone has some other ideas?

PS: it's strange that this file doesn't exist:
  /usr/lib/galeon/plugins/nppdf.so -> ../../Adobe/Reader8/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so

Even the directory /usr/lib/galeon/ doesn't exist.

looks like galeon tries to use the symlink for iceweasel (firefox?)
