Short answer is: probably not. Gallery has some of its own abstractions (like event handling, etc) but my guess is that enough fundamentals changed in K3 that we can expect things to fail. My basic plan was to hack the core up to K3 and then create a 3.1 dir in gallery3-contrib and start moving modules over one at a time. I use contrib modules in my production G3 so I have a vested in some of them. I'm sure others are in the same boat. If we let 3.1 bake a bit before pushing it live we should get all the important ones moved over before we release.
