I know you meant Chad and not Shad (*), but FWIW, my production site
is still in 3.0.x (uses non-3.1.x-compatible theme) and seems pretty
happy.  I've played around cranking code obfuscation up and down, and
where things used to break they now work quite nicely :-).  Also, the
auto-deactivate works, movies with special characters work, etc.
