Multiple, separate databases

I want to setup instances of htdig for multiple, non-overlapping database so that users will be able to select which database to search.  Would it be best to reinstall htdig in a separate directory for each database that I want to set up, or is there a way to configure one installation of htidig so that rundig will create multiple, separate databases each time it runs and htsearch will search just one of those many database at a time?  I'm using version 3.1.6.
