I'm only using htdig for an intranet as well and it's running on a P II
at about 600 Mhz with about 500 MB Ram and RedHat 7.3. It runs like a
champ. I can't remember the last time i restarted the server or rebuilt
the indexes, and the site gets indexed every night (and things do
change).

Getting 3.2.0b6 up and running can be challenging and I too think that
search results are better with 3.1.6, but with a little tweaking of the
weights, i've got results that are really quite good, or at least, good
enough for my users... (not a single complaint, yet).
