Michael, What you are looking for are the Configuration Variables for Weight Factors. (http://htdig.org/confindex.html) There are different factors for different page elements: heading_factor, title_factor, text_factor etc. You don't say which version of htDig you are using and there are some subtle differences in the variable names between 3.1.6 and 3.2.0x.
