You're not trying to patch the binairy are you? Usually (I believe it's
always the case, but correct me if I'm wrong) a patch can be applied on the
source, not on the binairy. Since you're working with Suse I expect you to
have htDig installed via Yast or downloading an RPM.

If that's the case, download the source either from the htDig website or
download a source RPM from Suse. Then apply the patch on the source,
recompile and install.

has somebody experience with patching htdig 3.1.6 on
Suse 9.0 ?
I tried to patch the htdig file in /usr/bin but that
doesn't work.
Can somebody help me ??
