Hi, I would like to conclude http://tidy.sf.net/bug/1082088. Basically, "ascii-chars" is used to modify "--clean yes" and results in downgrading some symbol to an ASCII "closest" equivalent (see DowngradeTypography in clean.c). The current default of ascii-char is "yes". Possible outcomes: #1 we leave the default as is and close the bug #2 we change the default to "no" as 2005 browsers are better than 1998 ones and as it causes bad surprises. When done, we close the bug. I vote for #2. Any opinions ?
