Hi Björn, How are things? Agree, without formal releases, source packages fill a gap. Historically, Terry always handled those. Agree also, there may be sufficient other benefits to convert to SVN anyway. So, personally, I'd be happy to go along with it. Arnaud what is your preference? Björn is right, your opinion matters most these days. I'd also like to hear from folks on the list. Are there many folks keeping a local source tree via CVS? Are you already using SVN for other projects? I have a few questions about SVN conversion: 1) Can/should we preserve our revision history in the conversion? 2) Can keep a read-only CVS repository for reference purposes? 3) Is there a need to group individual file checkins into "transactions" of sorts (I'm thinking like CVSZilla) to generate the global project versions? Or do you just get a global version for each and every file revision? 4) Is the source package generation capability an SVN thing, or a SourceForge thing? None of these is critical. Just curious what we'll end up with after conversion. all the best, Charlie There are conversion tools that appear to address the above questions. So this may not be too bad. http://cvs2svn.tigris.org/ http://www.polarion.com/products/svn/svn_importer_features.php#CVS At 12:40 PM 12/23/2008 +0100, Bjoern Hoehrmann wrote: >Hi, > > I've been receiving a couple of requests to bring source packages back >or failing that switch to Subversion, in which case source packages are >automatically generated.
