How to repair XML file with tidy ?

Dear all,

I want to know whether the Tidy can repair a XML file, and how ?
I searched in the documents, but I cant find the example. I used the 
option "tidyOptSetBool( tdoc, TidyXhtmlOut, yes )" , however, the output 
is not a xml file.

I appreciate if someone could tell me how to use tidy to repair a xml
