HttpUnit & JS createElement

Hi all,

We have started using httpunit and particularly the ServletUnit 
classes at our company to test our webapps from our desktops. It is 
working great, and we all love it. However, we are now at that stage 
of our Javascript work that we want to start using JS functions like 
createElement() and cloneNode(). I have browsed the mailing list 
archives, and it seems like these have been a tricky issue. We have a 
large amount of Java coding experience, but none of the guys at our 
office has worked on an open source project before. Can you please 
give me your views on what would be the easiest and best way of 
adding these Javascript features to our test environment?

1. Switch to another system instead of httpunit (I have heard talk of 
HtmlUnit - does it include a ServletUnit equivalent, or can we mock 
it up with Tomcat in the Eclipse IDE? We like ServletUnit because it 
is standalone and we didn't need to set up Tomcat on our 
repository/test server to run the tests)

2. Access the current code of httpunit with subversion (we currently 
use cvs for our own work - can we access the code with cvs?). Has 
much progress been made on this stuff? We can certainly do 
programming and submit patches ourselves, but it would be nice to 
know where to get started on this, and to know whether this kind of 
feature is likely to be something we could do with hours or days vs 
weeks or months of programming.

3. Hack around in the 1.6.2 version which we downloaded from the site 
and are currently using.

4. Pay some money to one of the existing httpunit developers.
