Searching a tool for automated web testing

Hello
I am looking for a tool to do a functional test of a web application.
The application starts with one or more simple html pages. But at one
point a java applet is started which displays some text fields.
Finally I want to check the content those fields. If the value is what has
been expected, the test has successfully been passed.

The FAQ did not provide an answer to that question. Therefore I ask it here:
Is HttpUnit suited for this scenario?
