HttpUnit ist much older than the term comet. Frankly I heard of comet for the first time today and had to look it up at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comet_%28programming%29 The Ajax and Javascript question has been asked here multiple times - please read the FAQ for this. The short answer is: There is only limited Javascript support in httpunit and the new 2.0 engine has not been developed any further for more than two years now. Progress is blocked by limited development resources. There are currently only two comitters with a reaction time of a few weeks to a few months. There is an intention to do a maintainance release soon which will not change the javascript situation. Personally I think it is ok if httpunit stays in its current form which is well suited for non - javascript or not-so-heavy javascript webpages. The main feature of httpunit is the browser indepence. There are quite a few alternatives to httpunit at this time - httpunit has a classic and proven approach compared to these.
