problem with pending orders

In the UI, if pending orders is clicked on, it lists not only pending orders but also canceled orders and shipped orders. Possibly other status conditions. Do not think that this is correct. Possibly may be showing all but archived orders. We can not archive orders for at least 30 days but need to see which orders have not been shipped. TIA, David
