[links] gzip compression?

I've got an HP ProCurve managed switch with an HTML interface.  It requires
Javascript and frames, so I thought links would be perfect.  The only
machines that will have access to the switch's management utility will be
Linux servers with no X.

Unfortunately, the switch uses gzip compression on everything, and it just
shows as garbage inside links.  Is there a config somewhere that might help?
